This international conference on Adoption and Social Work Practice entitled: Redefining Adoption in a New Era: Opportunities and Challenges for Adoption Law and Practice is the first interdisciplinary event of its kind in Ireland. It is a joint initiative between the Faculty of Law and the School of Applied Social Studies, UCC. It is an Irish Research Council funded event. There are a number of high profile key note speakers including Philomena Lee and her daughter Jane Libberton, Nigel Cantwell, Pien Bos, Dr Geoffrey Shannon and the President of the District Court – Her Honour Judge Rosemary Horgan to name but a few.This conference will also provide a platform for all of those affected by adoption to highlight concerns and issues concerning law and practice.
