Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patient Open Day

This IBD Open Day, chaired by Prof. Fergus Shanahan, will discuss what's new in Inflammatory Bowel Disease including topics such as new drugs, new diagnostics, new research and new future.

This Inflammatory Bowel Disease Open Day, chaired by Prof. Fergus Shanahan,Professor of Medicine, University College Cork, Gastroenterologist, Cork University Hospital and Director, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, will discuss what's new in IBD including topics such as new drugs, new diagnostics, new research and new future. Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), is comprised of Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) - two serious, chronic digestive diseases that affect five million people worldwide. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis directly affect the digestive system and cause chronic intestinal inflammation. Although both diseases have little impact on mortality, they have a substantial negative impact on the quality of life of affected individuals.
