To mark the 750th anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri, UCC is hosting a Public Reading of Dante's Purgatorio in the Glucksman Gallery from 11am to 5pm.

To mark the 750th anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri and to give us all a chance to revisit his masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, the Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, and University College Dublin have joined forces to organize a public reading of the entire poem, one of the greatest works of world literature. The comedy will be read in 15 languages over three weekends in different locations, beginning with the reading of Inferno in the National Gallery of Ireland on Saturday 28th November. The journey into Dante’s masterpiece will continue with the reading of Purgatorio starting at 11am on Friday 4th December in the Glucksman Gallery in Cork and will come to a close with the reading of Paradiso beginning at 2.30pm on Friday 11th December in the Chapel of Trinity College Dublin.
