School of Applied Psychology Symposium

To conclude its 50th Anniversary celebrations the School of Applied Psychology is holding a one day symposium with 9 international speakers presenting on a variety of topic in the area of Psychology

Reflecting the strengths and interests of the staff, the areas in which we feel we can make a meaningful contribution, we focus in this symposium on the following research challenges:

• health and wellbeing

• ageing well

• nurturing community

Many of the speakers we have invited contribute in one way or another to Psychology’s promotion of human welfare in these areas and they do it in a variety of ways, reflecting the plurality of Applied Psychology today. Some are colleagues from other disciplines whose perspectives will add to the richness of our conceptualisation of applying psychology going forward. Perhaps most important this is a day for academics, practitioners, service providers, students, and neighbours to discuss what psychology as a means of promoting human welfare could mean in 2015 and beyond.
