New Housing Poverties in Contemporary Ireland

The event will present evidence indicating the scale and extent of new housing poverties in the different sectors of the Irish housing system.

The School of Applied Social Studies, University College, Cork and Institute for Social Sciences in the 21st Century (ISS21) present this one-day event which will focus on key issues emerging in the Irish housing system. The conference speakers will present evidence indicating the scale and extent of new housing poverties in the different sectors of the Irish housing system and international experts will offer comparative perspectives from other housing jurisdictions. The conference will provide an opportunity to develop critical insights into future directions in Irish housing policy and practice and explore the feasibility of establishing a network of researchers and practitioners in this field. It will be of interest to housing practitioners in local authorities, social housing associations, advocacy groups, researchers, planners, architects and anyone with an interest in housing issues at this critical time in Irish society. This event is funded under the ICHSS New Ideas Grants Scheme, 2012.
