New Perspectives on Galician Music

This symposium attempts to analyse different aspects and debates related to Galician music.

New Perspectives on Galician Music is a symposium organised by the Irish Centre for Galician Studies in collaboration with the Department of Hispanic Studies and the School of Music and Theatre, University College Cork, and it will take place in UCC on Friday 18th November 2011. The diversity of the papers is designed to cover a wide range of themes, genres, connections and interests. The symposium will gather various experiences and perspectives to examine the visions and the concepts of those who form part of the world of Galician music, from the traditional to the avant-garde. Speakers include Xelís de Toro (writer and performer), Gabriel Pérez Durán (Universidade de Vigo), Isaac Xubín (UCC), Eva Moreda (Open University), Rodrigo Romaní (Escola de Música Tradicional e Folk de Vigo) and Mel Mercier (UCC).
