Iranian Music Concert
A recital of Iranian traditional and folk music by a quartet of leading professional musicians from Iran.A Concert of Iranian Traditional and Folk Music 5.30 p.m. Ó Riada Hall Department of Music Sunday’s Well Road (Free Admission) We are delighted to welcome the ensemble Nagmeh Baran (Melody of the Rain) on their first visit to Cork. Established in 2003, the ensemble performs widely inside Iran and far beyond, and here they have devised a diverse programme of traditional and folk music performed by four master performers: Amir Ali Ghasemi (voice), Reza Hosseinzadeh (percussion), Alireza Ahmadi (strings) and Milad Sadeghi (wind). Iranian traditional music is known for its inspiring melodies, subtle intonations, its rhythmic appeal, and its interweaving of composed and improvised performance. One of the world’s most beautiful and inventive classical music traditions, this concert also features folk items reflecting the diverse historical cultures of the region. With thanks to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for sponsoring this tour. Note: it will be possible to enter the back of the hall between items.
