Public Reading

A public reading by historical novelists, Paul Lynch, and Carys Davis, the 2018 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Fellow at UCC. The reading is part of the School of English Annual Reading Series.

"Mining the Past" The second event in the 2018/19 School of English Reading Series features historical novelists Paul Lynch and Carys Davies. Paul Lynch is the winner of the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award for his novel, Grace, a coming-of-age narrative set during the Great Famine, whihc was also short-listed for the Walter Scott Prize. Carys Davies is the current Frank O'Connor International Fellow - sponsored by the Munster Literature Centre and Cork City Council - who has been teaching at UCC this semester. She is a winner of the Frank O'Connor Short Story Award for her short fiction collection, The Redemption of Galen Pike. Her latest novel, West, is set in the early 1800 in Frontier America. The reading takes place in the Creative Zone, Boole Library, Tuesday November 20 @6.30pm. Admission is free, no booking necessary and all are welcome.
