Claude Pelieu - On all frequencies
Claude Pélieu – On all frequencies is the result of a partnership between UCC Library, UCC's Dept. of French and Bibliothèque nationale de France.
On all frequencies is a result of a partnership between UCC Library, the Dept. of French UCC, and Bibliotheque nationale de France. It is curated by James Horton (Ecole Normale Supérieure). Claude Pélieu (1934–2002) was a writer, poet, collage artist and translator. Often considered as the only French member of that most American of movements, the Beat Generation, Pélieu is perhaps best understood as a free agent, a poet in exile who set out to document a country and a counterculture that fascinated and at times horrified him. The project which was initiated 3 years ago is the first use of the Pélieu Collection since it was received by the Bibliothèque nationale de France. It is a privilege therefore for University College Cork to have the opportunity to encourage a wider appreciation of Claude Pélieu’s work and intentionally facilitate the engagement of new audiences with this important artist and writer. Cork is a vibrant and welcoming cultural location for this exhibition, and we very much hope that it will be appreciated by the various art communities of Cork, and indeed cast its kaleidoscopic light much further afield. https://www.ucc.ie/en/media/academic/french/cpexpo.pdf
