The Japanese Musical Art of Storytelling: Rokyoku Performance with Haruno Keiko
A performance of Rokyoku, the Japanese art of musical storytelling. Organised by the Irish Institute of Japanese Studies, UCC.
Haruno Keiko, one of the most popular Rokyoku artists of Japan, will present her exciting and entertaining art during a performance organised by the Irish Institute of Japanese Studies (School of Asian Studies) at UCC. Accompanied by Ipputei Hazuki on the shamisen, Haruno Keiko will perform two of her most successful pieces, both of which are set in ancient Japan. Japanese and English will be spoken during the event; however, no knowledge of Japanese is required to enjoy this thrilling insight into traditional Japanese entertainment, or to meet this wonderful performer.
