THE DEATH OF FIONAVAR FROM THE TRIUMPH OF MAEVE by Eva Gore-Booth directed by Julie Kelleher Engaging with the work of significant Irish writers during the period of the 1916 Rising, this staged reading of Eva Gore-Booth’s play takes place in the atmospheric setting of Cork Gaol on the evening of All Souls Day. The reading will be directed by Julie Kelleher, (Everyman Theatre) with a cast including Mary-Lou McCarthy (UCC alumna) and Cork born actress Niamh Linehan whose extensive credits include leading roles at the Abbey Theatre, Druid Theatre Company, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre.
The reading will be followed on November 3rd by a symposium/masterclass involving lectures on Eva Gore-Booth as well as discussion with the practitioners on their experience of interacting with the text. Keynote lecture and masterclass will be delivered by Dr. Cathy Leeney (UCD). Event organized in a collaboration with the Department of English (UCC) and with funding from the Irish Research Council.
