Perforum: Autumn 2015 - The Body in Performance
Perforum is an events series hosted by Drama and Theatre Studies featuring the work of directors, practitioners, and researchers in the fields of Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies.Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Theatre and Performance Practices and Drama and Theatre Studies in association with Corcadorca invite you to hear Ríonach Ní Néill speak. Ríonach Ní Néill is a dance artist and curator. She founded Ciotóg in 2006 for which she has choreographed 11 works, which have been performed in the US, UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, Spain and Ireland, and won international awards. As a performer, she danced for many Irish choreographers, including Fearghus Ó Conchúir, Finola Cronin, and Rex Levitates (now Liz Roche Dance), and was a member of Tanztheater Bremen, 2002-06 under the artistic direction of Urs Dietrich. Rionach curates the Galway Dance Days | Corp_Real International Dance Festival and Symposium in her role as Galway Dance Artist in Residence (2010-2016). She was recently appointed as the dance curator at Firkin Crane, Cork, responsible for artistic programming and development. She holds a PhD in Geography from UCD, and guest lectures at the Bundesakademie für Kulturelle Bildung, Wolfenbüttel, Germany, and at the Landscape Architecture MA programme, University of Sweden, Malmö. She has a particular interest in socially engaged art, and has developed dance projects for older people, people living with dementia, and living with psychiatric illness.
