Kaumal Baig, 4th year Dental student's exhibition of precise ink drawings will be displayed in the Jennings Gallery, 4th Nov 2015 - 27th Jan 2016
Kaumal Baig is a 4th Year Dental Student in University College Cork who grew up in Cork with Asian roots. Kaumal loves the precision that drawing with ink provides - the crisp, clear, permanent lines. Patterns are a noticeable component in the majority of Kaumal’s drawings – little motifs collected in her mind over the years. With no formal education in art, Kaumal went through life with a passion for Mathematics and the Sciences, which are portrayed through her artwork. Aptly described by the famous, Henry Ward Beecher - “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.”
At secondary school, mathematics and the sciences (physics, biology and chemistry) were Kaumal's passion. She loved the pure logic of these subjects, the temporary euphoria that only working out a particularly difficult algebraic equation could give. She adored the precision, the exactness which are paramount to her artwork. She likes things to be precise – her preferred drawing medium is fineliner ink – the lines are crisp, clear and permanent.
The exhibition will run until Wednesday 27th January 2016.
