The Ballad of Charlie and Cate
A two hander multi-character epic play that charts the rise and fall and rise again and fall again of two working class Corkonian sisters Charlie and Cate Maloney.
Do you sometimes feel seduced by the dear old capitalist system? Feel like you can ‘hit the big time’ in it! But yet at the same time does that system repel you to the point of vomiting? If these contradictions relate to you then woohoo! The Ballad of Charlie and Cate is the play for you!
A Clown like criticism of the profit system and our very own Celtic Tiger, engaging in hilarious absurdity with the ‘oldest profession in the world,’ engaging with the trials and tribulations of love, lust, poverty and ‘bringing up baby’ – Charlie and Cate brings all of this and whole lot more to you in a fast paced maniacal attack of verbose and physical theatrics. Set in the rebel county.
Performed rebelliously by Marnie Mcleane Fay and Roisin O’ Neil. Bring your mam. Bring your dad. Bring your cousin if he or she is over 16 like as alas this masterwerk ain’t one for the kiddies!
