The Small Things by Bunkhouse Theatre Company
The Small Things is about the necessity for language. Our storytellers start into their daily chit chat, which soon reveals the far more twisted fable there have to tell about the loss of speech itself.
A man and a woman, torn apart by a brutal regime of enforced silence and order, recite their story each day in an attempt to regain the once cherished chaos and the chit chat. The talk of their lives, loves and hates. The painful memories of the dictated routine make them consider the futility of the telling, can they even be heard by the other? Are they listening? A breath, a pause, and they continue to speak; to relish in the sound of words and the shape of the small talk.
