In an instiution designed to rid society of its undesirables, a group of inmates try to save themselves through love. Cleansed is a tender and violent fable from the author of Blasted, Crave and 4:48 Psychosis. Cleansed by Sarah Kane is an unusual love story about the dangerous and fatal emotions of love; addiction, loss, need, suffering and obsession. The love between two men with opposite sensibilities, a sister’s search for her dead brother, a young boy who falls in love with knowledge and an obsessive relationship between a man and a stripper. For all the characters in Cleansed experience love as a kind of hell, but when feeling loved they are more alive than not feeling it. This is a work-in-progress showing of the play, which will be presented in full later in the year. Sound & Video design by Cormac O’Connor, Set & Prosthetics by Lisa Zagone, Music by Ian Wilson and directed by Tony McCleane-Fay.
