Fear And Misery In The Third Reich
A collection of short plays and sketches by BERTOLT BRECHT, one of the most influential playwrights of the Twentieth Century.FEAR AND MISERY IN THE THIRD REICH is a collection of short plays and sketches by BERTOLT BRECHT, one of the most influential playwrights of the Twentieth Century. The pieces are all based on the experience of life in Germany immediately following the Nazis' rise to power in 1933: the beginning of the Third Reich. The scenes show both the tragic and the grotesque effects of a regime that worked to control every aspect of life. We observe the bureaucratic covering-up of state brutality; the insidious destruction of trust between parents and their child; the manically "positive" propoganda; the way ordinary people are recruited into compliance with extraordinary deeds ... This production is part of the Second Year Drama & Theatre Studies undergraduate programme.
