THE BLANCH
A band of manic bouffons take us to a ‘real-life’ shopping centre where: outsize Orlagh is after a designer fit, and Enda is shopping for the latest thing.
Outsize Orlagh is after a designer fit and Enda is shopping for the latest thing, but the kids are driving them mad. Jacintha and Dijon are shopping for free, while the Cavan farmers are after some ham. Security has his eye on everyone, but the economy is crumbling, credit cards are crunching, and everyone’s going out of control…. A band of Bouffons (outcast clowns from god-knows-where) take over the theatre to present a phantasmagorical escalator ride through the contemporary suburban shopping experience. Their anarchic show, features live music and a ruthless comedy which is not for the faint-hearted or for children! This Dublin Fringe hit is devised by Ciarán Taylor and Carpet Theatre; and the tour is supported by the Arts Council. ‘fast, fun, frantic, vaguely menacing and all quite mad’. Irish Theatre Magazine (4 Stars) ‘clowns that have to be very, very good to be this bad’. Irish Times (4 Stars) ‘a very funny look at a familiar activity … highly entertaining from start to finish’ FringeReport.comCategory: | Arts and Cultural Events: Granary Theatre |
