Perspectives: Nigel Rolfe
Nigel Rolfe is a Dublin-based artist whose work includes sound and audio production, video and photography and live performance.Perspectives is a series of free lunchtime talks exploring one question or idea from the point of view of different artists, critics and curators. This series accompanies thethe exhibition The Artist’s Eye: Photographic portraits of artists. This free lunchtime series invites artists to share the challenges of documenting time-based artworks and considers how the still image can be used to extend and complement the visual aspects of performance. Nigel Rolfe's work includes sound and audio production, video and photography and live performance. He has previously exhibited in Biennales in Kwangju in 1997 and Sao Paulo in 1998. His retrospective Archive was shown at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 1994, and Nigel Rolfe Videos 1983 – 1996 was exhibited at The Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1996. He has also had solo exhibitions of works with photography and video in Ireland, New York, France and Germany.
