The Space of Art: Art, Craft and Architecture - symposium
The Space of Art is a one day symposium exploring art, craft and architecture.
“The Bauhaus had used the gothic cathedral as the image of what the school was meant to be: a place where artisans of every field, whether glassmakers or stonecutters or painters or architects, worked together, anonymously, to serve a purpose higher than themselves.”
The Space of Art is a one day symposium exploring art, craft and architecture through themes and ideas present in the work and life of Josef Albers.
Albers was a member of the original Bauhaus school in Germany which emphasised the connection between artists, architects and craftspeople. Through a series of thematic panel discussions, guest speakers will consider how the Bauhaus approach continues to influence and inform creative practices.
Nicholas Fox Weber will present the opening address at the symposium.
