Developing Pictures: Symposium on Photography
Developing Pictures is a one day symposium exploring the conditions of photography.
Developing Pictures is a one day symposium exploring the conditions of photography and exploring the themes and works in the exhibition Out of the Dark Room: Works from the David Kronn Collection.
Through a series of thematic panel discussions, guest speakers will address the exhibition groupings of classification, encounter, surface and time in photography. In this way, Developing Pictures aims to stimulate debate about the material presence of the photographic image, as well as the ways in which photography can capture and communicate our experiences.
Dr. David Kronn will present the opening address at the symposium, followed by presentations by Mark Durden (Professor of Photography, University of Wales, Newport), Caroline von Courten (Managing Editor, Foam Magazine, Amsterdam), and Tanya Kiang (Gallery of Photography, Dublin), among others.
