Global Speaker Series: Leading through a Pandemic - Lessons for the Future

Michael Dowling (President and CEO of Northwell Health in the USA) in conversation with Professor Mary Horgan (President of the RCPI, former Dean of the School of Medicine at UCC and Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases at CUH)

On February 23, Alumni and Development will welcome Michael Dowling (President and CEO of Northwell Health in the USA) and Professor Mary Horgan (President of the RCPI, former Dean of the School of Medicine at UCC and Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases at CUH) for a live conversation on “Leading through a Pandemic – Lessons for the Future”. Please register in advance at https://alumni.ucc.ie/globalspeakerseries - What are the key factors influencing clinical decision-making in a pandemic? - To what extent does preparation and international collaboration make a difference in a global crisis? - How can we ensure that communication is clear and comprehensive but does not generate unnecessary fear? - What is the role of government? - With the experience gained and lessons learned in 2020, can we develop a cross-sectoral handbook for future emergencies? The second talk in UCC’s Global Speaker Series will explore these questions and more. Throughout 2021, Alumni and Development will host a series of conversations with an international focus. Each month, an expert from the global alumni community will discuss a topic of interest with a specialist from UCC. Exploring both the challenges and opportunities facing us in this new world, the Global Speaker Series will look at what we have learned over the past year and will investigate what the future holds.
