Ahead of World Diabetes Day on 14 November figures from a Health Research Board-funded study by ESPRIT researcher, Marsha Tracey, suggest that between 2004 and 2013, on average two people per month went blind from diabetic retinopathy.

This year's annual College of Medicine and Health Research Day in UCC was organised by the National Health Services Research Institute (NHSRI) within the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health.
The "Do or Diabetes: Evidence to Support Prevention Implementation and Translation" session was chaired by Professor Patricia Kearney. Professor Sarah Wilde, Professor of Epidemiology at the Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics, University of Edinburgh, gave an interesting and insightful keynote on "Improving outcomes of diabetes: The Scottish approach".Read more

The 9th Annual Collaborative Diabetes in Primary Care Conference took place in Cork. The conference was jointly hosted by DiGP, Department of General Practice at UCC, HSE and IPNA. All health care professionals were welcomed to Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig, Co. Cork.
