TRANSPORT_Ireland Model to Assess GHG Mitigation Options

Project Title: TRANSPORT_Ireland model to assess GHG mitigation options

Researcher: Prof Brian Ó Gallachóir

T: +353 (0)21 490 3037

Funding Body:  Environmental Protection Agency

Project type:  Research

Period:  2015 - 2018

Project Description:

This project will build a TRANSPORT_Ireland model and analyze mitigation options for transport GHG emissions in the short (pre 2020) to medium term (pre 2030). The project will both significantly improve analytical capacity and provide recommendations on the development of options with high potential for mitigation. It will be undertaken by the Energy Policy and Modelling Group in UCC, building on i) previous work by UCC on the impact of (technical, fiscal and behavioural) policy measures on energy use in transport ii) recent research funded by EPA, NTA and DoT and iii) UCC's Irish TIMES model for energy and climate mitigation scenario analysis.
