Project Description: 

Through the SEAI post doctorate fellowship Denis works closely with the Energy Policy Statistical Support Unit (EPSSU) of SEAI. The core functions of EPSSU are to:

  • Collect, process and publish energy statistics to support policy analysis and development in line with national needs and international obligations
  • Conduct statistical and economic analyses of energy services sectors and sustainable energy options
  • Contribute to the development and promulgation of appropriate sustainability indicators.

The first goal of the Research Fellowship EPSSU in carrying out these tasks, particularly in analysing energy trends and publishing this analysis in SEAI reports. In parallel to this the second goal is to continue the analysis carried out for SEAI to the stage where it can be considered for publication through the peer review process. The fellowship involves research on all areas of the Irish energy system, including transportation, residential, industry and renewables.
