The focus of this research is to develop a coupled Ireland and Great Britain electricity market model to gain insights into the overall market performance of the newly proposed I-SEM market from both national and supranational perspectives. The model will use mixed integer programming techniques with the PLEXOS Integrated Energy Model and stochastic programming elements to simulate and optimise the future electricity markets with high levels of variable renewables under a wide range of conditions. Ongoing research from EirGrid’s DS3 program on the integration of renewable will also be considered.
