Researcher: Cathal O’Mahony and Rory Scarrott

T: 021-4703100

Funding Body: European Space Agency

Project type: Research

Period: June 2015 – June 2016

Project Description:

CINMarS aims to identify mechanisms to underpin a strategy for developing stronger links and collaboration between the space and maritime sectors; and, use this strategy as a roadmap to explore benefits in the form of an improved understanding of requirements, potential for joint working and innovation to support and enhance employment and economic opportunities. CINMarS partners will engage with members of the maritime and space communities to analyse: cluster working practices; approaches to innovation support; and, current innovation support mechanisms in use.

The initial focus is on the European Atlantic area but consideration will be given as to how the outputs of CINMarS can be extended for application to other European marine regions, and to activity outside marine and space sectors. The CINMarS partnership comprises three cluster type organisations from Ireland, Portugal and Norway, which each have experience and expertise in maritime and space applications.
