UCC Winner of UN Photography Competition
Congratulations to Patrick Cross of the UN Environment GEMS/Water Capacity Development Centre who was a winner in the recent UN Clean Water Here Global Photography Exhibition.
To document the current global water issues, Clean Water Here asked photographers from around the world to capture what the lack of safe drinking water means to them, knowing the water cycle in its entirety includes all uses and users. On UN World Water Day, March 22, 2018, a distinguished panel of judges selected the final images, which were unveiled at the United Nations in New York.
Patrick’s winning photo, taken at Mullinahassig Waterfall and entitled "Uisce Beatha (Water of Life)", symbolises nature-based solutions that have the potential to solve many of our water challenges if ‘green’ infrastructure and ‘grey’ infrastructure can be harmonised wherever possible.
The photo exhibition is currently on display in the UN visitor centre in New York and will be touring other UN centres over the coming months, including the UNESCO centre in Paris.
