UCC Climate Lab 2017 Seminar Series
- 09 Oct 2017
Dr. Diarmuid Torney, School of Law and Government, Dublin City University will be giving a presentation on "The new geopolitics of climate change in the Trump era".
Dr. Torney's presentation will take place on Tuesday, 17th October at 6:30 p.m. in Room 1.07, Western Gateway Building, UCC, Western Road, Cork.
Climate change is reshaping the contours of world politics, creating many winners and losers. The Paris Agreement confirmed—if confirmation was needed—the status of climate change as a core arena of international diplomacy. Coming just a year after the success of Paris, the election of Donald Trump cast a shadow over the global response to climate change. What does Trump’s decision to withdraw from that agreement mean for the global response to climate change? Will it fracture international cooperation or, paradoxically, galvanise the rest of the world’s response?
In advance of the latest round of UN climate change negotiations, Dr. Diarmuid Torney will analyse the new global geopolitics of climate change in the Trump era.
This is a free event open to the public organized by UCC Climate Lab at the Environmental Research Institute, UCC. All are welcome. Please register at link below.
