Tony Daly and Eimear Green present ‘Getting behind the facts and figures: Development Education in an age of extremes’
This event will take place in the Teaching Resource Lab, Donovan's Road, UCC on Thursday May 18th from 11.00am to 12.45pm.
Tony Daly, co-editor of the 7th edition of the influential 80-20 Development in an Unequal World publication, will focus the discussion on the three ‘big’ ideas in the book. He will discuss facts, fiction and feelings and explore matters relating to the teaching methodologies employed in the publication. Finally, the talk will centre on the main purpose of this work – to develop amongst post-primary teachers the critical awareness and action that is required to make substantive changes via the educational process.
80-20 Development in an Unequal World, 7th edition (2016), has been described by Mary Robinson (President of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice) as “an invaluable tool for everyone interested in development issues”; by Patrick Dodson (Senator and Aboriginal Leader) as “remarkable storytelling for today’s world”; and by Richard E. Rubenstein (George Mason University) as “a pedagogical gem”.
