PME (Art and Design) Student Exhibition on in CIT CCAD Grand Parade Gallery

On the Same Page, an exhibition of artwork, sketchbooks and visual research by the 2019 PME (Art & Design) student teachers and their pupils is currently on in The Gallery @ No. 46 Grand Parade, Cork.
Exhibition Runs: from 2-18 May
On the Same Page brings together sketchbooks, artwork and practice-based research by secondary school art students as selected by their student art teachers, with some work included by the teachers also.
It investigates ways in which teaching and learning is ever evolving to meet a changing art curriculum and the diverse needs of pupils in our secondary schools.
The exhibition is a mixture of process-driven and mixed-media artwork with an emphasis on exploring diverse themes that include community and activism, empathy, expressive mark-making and a celebration of the visual world.
2019 Professional Master of Education (Art and Design) students conducted their school placement in schools across Cork City and County as well as schools in Co. Tipperary. Within their placement schools, students were encouraged to reflect on their growing sense of professional identity as art teachers and to select exhibition artifacts that in some way capture one small aspect of this journey.
The PME (Art & Design) Programme is offered jointly by staff at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design and University College Cork. It is a two-year, full-time Level 9 postgraduate professional teacher education programme, that leads to a professional qualification as a post-primary teacher of Art and Design. It is recognised and accredited by the Teaching Council of Ireland for the purpose of registration as a post- primary teacher of Art and Design in Ireland and abroad.
