Google Undergraduate Awards

The Google Undergraduate Awards programme 2012 is now open and it is important to us that students are aware of this opportunity.

The Undergraduate Awards is a non-profit awards programme that recognizes independent thinking and creativity amongst undergraduate students across the island of Ireland, the USA, Canada, and the UK. We hope to encourage the next generation of influencers and innovators by supporting their ideas and acknowledging their work. In 2011, we brought 28 of these brilliant young minds to Dublin for the Undergraduate Awards Summit, during which they were presented with their medals by President Mary McAleese in Dublin Castle, and were treated to two days of events and activities around the city.

To apply, students, in their final or penultimate year of their degree, must simply register a piece of coursework that has received a mark of a high 2.1 or above. The winning essay from each category is then selected by a judging panel of Irish and international academics and industry experts. Not only is the winning essay acknowledged but the highly commended essays in each category will receive a certificate of recognition.

Students can register now on , until March 30th 2012. Following this date, they will be able to submit their essays online until July 2nd 2012. We would urge students to register at their earliest convenience in order to guarantee a place in the submission process.
