Dr. Fiachra Long chairs 'Post-Critical Pedagogy' session at Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain conference, Oxford
The PESBG conference was held at New College, Oxford from March 31 to April 2, 2017.
The symposium drew a large number of delegates from around the world. The first topic discussed was presented as a manifesto critiquing how unquestioned and normalized critical pedagogy has become and how relativist and opinionated students have become as a result of this exposure. This paper was by three scholars from Liverpool Hope University, Dr Naomi Hodgson, Joris Vlieghe and Piotr Zamojski. The second topic was by Dr Karsten Kenklies of Strathclyde University and the theme of his presentation was Bildung in the context of Anglo-American thinking and especially its divergence from the latter. Discussions that followed were lively and instructive.
