Coaching the Coaches - A Series of Lectures by Dr Julia Walsh, Director of B. Ed Sports Studies and Physical Education

Dr. Julia Walsh, the Director of the B.Ed. Sports Studies and Physical Education programme, School of Education, UCC is to begin a series of lectures beginning next week.  These lectures are aimed at coaches of all levels, across all sporting codes, with the goal of improving coaching structures within clubs across Cork city and county.

The event is the first in a series of talks, and will involve students from the B.Ed. Sports Studies and Physical Education programme as well as interaction from the audience.  It is set to attract a huge crowd to the Rochestown Park Hotel on Monday next, March 15th at 7.30pm.

Called Coaching the Coaches, the information sessions, brought to you by UCC, in association with the Evening Echo and the Rochestown Park Hotel, is aimed at coaches and administrators of all levels across all sporting codes who have a desire to improve the coaching structures at their clubs.

The presentation by Julia Walsh, who is recognised by her peers as one of the leading teacher of coaches in Ireland, is called 'The Novice Coach, learning from expert novice coaches'.

 This first presentation is aimed at novice coaches working with children and club administrators working with novice coaches.

The forum, which includes a presentation by Julia Walsh, contains information that will help novice coaches at the start of their coaching journey and introduce them to new ideas and thinking.

Students from UCC involved in the coaching stream will share their experience and hints on coaching children in a round-table discussion.

This session is free and open to all novice coaches (or people mentoring novice coaches) across all sporting codes.

There will be opportunity for interaction and questions on the night.

The second presentation night in this coaching series will take place onThursday April 22nd in the Rochestown Park Hotel.
