International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

Today, 17th May, is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHBT), and this week is Cork's LGBT+ Awareness Week.  A schedule of events is available at https://www.facebook.com/CorkLgbtAwarenessWeek

To mark the occasion, UCC today is joining many other organisations across Cork in raising the rainbow flag (on the Quad), and this evening the Quad will be lit up in the rainbow flag's colours.  Our thanks to the Interim President and to our colleagues in General Services and Buildings & Estates for facilitating this event.

If you would like to read more about IDAHBT, the ILGA's website<https://ilga.org/celebrating-IDAHOBIT-2021-together-resisting-supporting-healing> is a good starting point for information on the Day, and for resources such as its annual State-Sponsored Homophobia<https://ilga.org/downloads/ILGA_World_State_Sponsored_Homophobia_report_global_legislation_overview_update_December_2020.pdf> report (global legislation overview).

Free - all welcome. Organised by UCC LGBT+ Staff Network
