Launch of Speak Out in UCC

8 Feb 2022

Dignity and respect are core to our values here at UCC and we will not tolerate bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual violence or other forms of aggression.

Message from President of UCC, Professor John O'Halloran:

I am pleased to announce today the launch of the Speak Out anonymous reporting tool for staff and students here at UCC. This tool is also available across seventeen other higher education institutions across Ireland.

Speak Out is an online tool which provides a safe and secure platform for both staff and students to anonymously report incidents they have experienced or witnessed including bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, discrimination, coercive behaviour, control, stalking, assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault or rape.

This trauma-informed tool is completely anonymous - we will have no way to identify, respond to or make contact with anyone who makes a report using Speak Out.

While we cannot directly respond to reports made using the Speak Out tool, I want to assure the UCC community that there is support available. The Speak Out website will guide you to relevant supports and advise you of UCC’s formal reporting procedures should you wish to use them. The information that we collect through the Speak Out tool will be used to inform policy and identify additional educational initiatives to benefit our entire university community.

Let's all work together to ensure there is zero-tolerance in our University for all forms of unacceptable behaviour and misconduct.
