UCC SU sabbatical officers will live off €38.80 for a week to try to gain some idea of the experience of people living in direct provision. UCC SU will document the experience through their social media accounts. The main purpose of it is to raise awareness as their experience is that many people don't know what Direct Provision is, never mind that they have so little to live on every week, and they hope that they can inspire people to become involved in the campaign to end direct provision.
Re DP allowance: (from Citizens Information website): "Daily Expenses Allowance (formerly called a Direct Provision Allowance) weekly rate will increase from €21.60 to €29.80 for children and €38.80 for adults (from week beginning 25 March 2019)."
All welcome. Organised by UCC SU
