Postgraduate Student Opportunity - Digital Content/Social Media Assistant

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit – Part-time role

This role is open to postgraduate students.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Unit is seeking a part-time Digital Content/Social Media Assistant to join their team for the coming academic year.  

Working in partnership with the UCC EDI Unit team, you will help create digital content aimed at promoting EDI initiatives, principles, events and training across the unit’s social media platforms.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop interactive social media campaigns (around key dates, trainings, events e.g. Equality Week, International Women’s Day) to raise awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion at UCC
  • Curate compelling social media content (graphics/short videos)
  • Support the development of and engagement with EDI Unit social media platforms
  • Help ensure EDI Unit social media content is accessible to all audiences
  • Help ensure all EDI Unit content aligns with UCC’s values
  • Coordinate with the UCC Communications and Marketing Office as required. 

Essential Requirements 

  • An interest and understanding of EDI, including accessibility standards around online content, is key to this role.
  • Experience of developing and driving social media campaigns
  • Knowledge of how to reach audiences through social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)  
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills  
  • Understand universal design, how to create accessible content
  • A good eye for design - experience using Canva or similar graphic design platforms
  • Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team  

Pay and working arrangements 

The hourly rate of pay is current stuednt rate of pay. Office space and a laptop will be provided in the EDI Unit on the main UCC campus. You will be expected to be on-campus two days per week.

Student Opportunity - Events Assistant

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit – Part-time role

This role is for postgraduate students.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Unit is seeking a part-time Events Assistant to join their team for the coming academic term.  

Working in partnership with the UCC EDI Unit team, you will help with the running of events including, but not exclusive to, training and information sessions, public talks and exhibitions.  

An interest and understanding of EDI, including accessibility standards, is desirable but not essential. 

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Assisting the events team with events, ranging from small to large scale, both ntneral and external
  • Attending events as required
  • Assisting EDI Unit in promotion of events
  • Supporting the event manager with logistical and administrative support
  • Maintaining records of all bookings e.g. venue and catering
  • Assisting with creative decisions
  • Attending event meetings as required
  • Ad-hoc duties at events including, but not limited to, guest list management, showing guests to tables and taking coats
  • Helping set up and dismantle events efficiently through to completion
  • Ensuring all branded items for events arrive on time

Essential requirements:

  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Good time management
  • Good attention to detail
  • Confident with Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
