Specific Learning Difficulty Screening Programme

The Disability Support Service provides a Dyslexia Screening Programme for registered students of UCC.

The service is free and helps students decide if they need to undertake a full diagnostic assessment or not. Whilst the University does not provide for a full diagnostic assessment, we can advise on the next steps students can take.
  • The screening will not provide a diagnosis.
  • Students will not be provided with accommodations in UCC for exams on the basis of the results of a screening, but advice can be offered on the supports available for all learners in the University.
  • The screening will provide you with information on your learning strengths and any potential difficulties, and advise on the next steps you can take.
  • The screening tool used is not a standardised test and the results of the screening should be read with caution. The decision to undertake or not to undertake a full educational psychologist assessment is ultimately a decision for the student. The DSS cannot accept responsibility for any outcomes. All factors should be considered by the student before a decision is made and decisions should not be based on the screening alone.
