Deaf Fire Alert System
The Buildings and Estates Office in conjunction with the Disability Support Service has launched a Deaf Fire Alert System. This is a unique system, the first for any Irish University, that alerts Deaf/Hard of Hearing Students, staff and visitors to the presence of a fire.
Students and staff can sign up for the alerts by contacting disabilitysupport@ucc.ie
Visitors to the campus can opt-in and opt-out for the duration of their stay. To opt-in text UCCALERT to 0866000225. To opt-out text UCCSTOPALERT to 0866000255.
When a fire alarm goes off, you will immediately receive a text saying where the fire is. For example, the fire alarm in the Boole Library today could read [ Fire Indication Zone: Corridor 3c-05 Q+3 Areas BGU, Boole Library].
