Evaluating Emerging Technology

Because of the nature of our work, the CDE is often to the forefront of using, piloting and evaluating new technology in UCC. In many cases, this is in support of a request for technology to support a particular administrative or educational function. In time, some of these technologies become mainstream platforms used across the institution.

To do this, we work closely with our colleagues in the Learning Technologies Unit, Audio Visual Media Services and IT Services. Examples of these include Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, OneButtonStudio and OpenBadgeFactory.

We have recently been involved in considering various eportfolio tools, video platfoms, online proctoring, classroom interaction options.

We will use this page in time to list technologies we are aware are being used across the university and provide our views on the pros and cons of these.
