What is Digital Education?

Digital Education refers to both the delivery of education through digital technologies and also the education of those who teach to use digital tools effectively.

What services does the Centre for Digital Education offer?

The Centre for Digital Education (CDE) in UCC works within the Office of Vice President for Learning and Teaching to empower staff to improve student learning through the best practice application of technology.

We will achieve this by:

What training does the CDE facilitate?

Our role is to support UCC staff in the application of technology in Learning and Teaching. We do this through consultation with academic and professional staff and provide advice about the application of technology to learning contexts. We offer a range of training options such as:

  • Canvas Training Sessions,

  • Byte-Size TEL sessions look at different aspects of Technology Enhanced Learning and,

  • TEL Practicals are hands-on practical sessions held in a computer lab.

Can I book a consultation with a member of the CDE?

I need help with Canvas, who do I contact?

There is an online Teaching with Canvas module available in Canvas. All staff are enrolled automatically in this course and you should see it on your Canvas dashboard. Canvas 24/7 support is also available through phonecall or online chat. You will see this under the Help menu item when you log into Canvas.

I need help creating a module in Canvas, who do I contact?

If you or your students require assistance accessing your Canvas modules, or creating new modules, please contact the Learning Technologies Unit (LTU). The LTU is based in IT Services and primarily focuses on supporting Canvas from a technical and administration perspective.
