Glossary of Terms

Term Meaning
User Experience A way to describe how the audience interacts and experiences the UCC website

The appearance and structure of the information. Often described as the "Look and Feel". Includes things like: 

  • Modern vs Outdated
  • Attractive vs Unattractive
  • Exciting vs Boring
  • Well organised vs Messy

How well the audience can use the information and the site, given their specific context. Includes things like: 

  • Navigation - they can find their way around the site
  • Relevance - they can find content that meets their needs
  • Language - the site is written in a language that is easy to understand
  • Speed - the site loads before they get impatient
  • Professional - site gives the impression that UCC is professional
  • Trust - site gives the impression that UCC is trustworthy
BM Education Education sector benchmark against universities in Scandanavian countries and Ireland. The company that runs the survey is Danish, hence the prevalence of Scandanavian universities in the data.
