Head shots opportunity proves a success

19 May 2014

A recent opportunity for UCC staff to have professional head shots taken free of charge has proven to be a huge success.

Supported by the Digital Estate Working Group, with the simple goal of boosting the appearance of colleagues' professional profiles, the idea was conceived by Tomás Tyner, photographer in UCC's Audio Visual Media Services unit.

Noticing an opportunity to improve the availability of quality head shots for UCC staff, Tomás arranged to take photographs that could be used in journal submissions, IRIS profiles, book jacket covers, LinkedIn profiles, social media platforms, etc.

Over a period of six days in April and May, Tomás has photographed over 360 people in the AVMS studio.

There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback for the initiative, the quality of the images and the experience. Images taken have already featured across a wide range of media, including in articles in print and online in the Cork Independent and the Irish Times.

Further studio dates are being actively considered.
