Outline
Course Objective:
This course addresses the technological development and clinical applications of implantable hearing devices (including cochlear implants, BAHA, middle ear implants and brainstem implants) and their impact on deaf children and adults.
Course Content:
Past and current technological advances, assessment and habilitation protocols, the role of interdisciplinary and interagency working, the impact of implantation on deaf children and adults with and without complex needs
Practicalities
Students will attend the University for a variety of activities including but not limited to: lectures/seminars/interactive workshops/collaborative groupwork. (Participants may need to participate in some directed reading before the sessions).
