Outline
This Neurology Clinical Update Day is open to allied health professionals.
It is offered under the Discipline of Physiotherapy
A one day seminar which aims to update clinicians working in Neurological Rehabilitation on new treatments and evidence available to ensure optimum patient care and outcomes.
It will include interdisciplinary case based presentations.

8.30-9.00 am: Registration
9.00-9.15 am: Welcome: Dr Joe McVeigh and Dr Joseph Dillion
9.15-9.45am: Clinical Update: Spinal Cord Injury, Dr Eimear Smith, Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and Medical Director or the National Spinal Cord Service
9.45-10.15 am: Clinical Update: Advanced Technologies in SCI Ronan Langan, Senior Physiotherapist and Clinical Lead in the DCU Exoskeleton Programme
10.15-10.45 am: Clinical Update: Multiple Sclerosis- new treatments available. Dr Brian Sweeney, Consultant Neurologist, CUH
10.45-11.15 am: Break- Tea/Coffee
11.15-11.45am: Clinical Update: Maximising function through Physiotherapy & exercise in MS Elaine Ross, Physiotherapy Manager, The Royal Hospital Donnybrook
11.45-12.15 am: Clinical Update: The role of the Occupational Therapist in Neurological Rehabilitation.
12.15-12.45 am: Clinical Update: Parkinson’s Disease- Devices used in PD Dr Suzanne Timmons, Consultant Gerontologist
12.45-1.30 pm: Lunch
1.30-3.00 pm: Case Presentation: Parkinson’s Disease: Physio and SLT Joint Session (Emma Gleeson, Senior SLT, Cork South Lee and Elaine Harrington, Senior Physiotherapist, Cork South Lee)
2.30-3.00 pm: Closing Remarks
