Outline
This workshop is designed for Health and Social Care Professionals (e.g. Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists), who are interested in getting involved in research that can be implemented in clinical practice.
We will explore quantitative Single Case Studies, specifically their:
- Design features
- Role in Evidence-based Practice
- Logistics of implementaion / drafting study plans
- Ethical issues
This course will be delivered by:
Prof. Nicole Müller, Head of Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Head of School of Clinical Therapies, UCC. Nicole’s research interests include multilingualism, and ageing-related impairments of communication and cognition, e.g. in the context of stroke or neurodegeneration. She has been at UCC since 2017, and is looking forward to building collaborations with practising clinicians across professions.
Dr. Rena Lyons is a Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy at NUI Galway. Rena has clinical expertise in developmental speech and language impairments, and voice disorders. Her research interests are in the areas of developmental speech and language impairments, listening to the perspectives of service users, evidence-based practice, and auditory processing disorders.
