Outline
As part of the National Child Protection and Welfare Social Work Conference series 2018-2019, visiting lecturer and trainer Leon Roche will present an interactive workshop on Engaging with People who Display Evasive and Difficult Behaviour in Child Protetion.
The workshop will be of interest to child protection and affiliated professionals and will cover:
- Definitions of difficult, dangerous and evasive behaviours
- Concepts of disguised compliance
- An overview of research and current serious case reviews (UK)
- Strategies for improving practice, including communication skills
- Managing stress and burnout
This workshop is organised by the National Child Protection and Welfare Social Work Conference Committee (a partnership between the IASW, UCC and Tusla, the Child and Family Agency) as part of a suite of offering to the social work community and related professionals and pratitioners to support you in your practice.
