Coronavirus (COVID-19) March 2020 Information

CUH is completely closed to all medical students on clinical attachment with immediate effect. All structured teaching at the site is also ceased for the immediate future.
This closure is part of an infection control containment exercise at that hospital. Further information will be circulated as it becomes available. I remind each of you to follow guidelines relating to Covid 19 posted on School and UCC health service websites. Updates regarding academic programmes will follow.
Advice for attending UCC students who may have concerns about the outbreak of coronavirus
While we are not aware of any cases in the UCC Community the safety of those attending courses is our primary concern.
In Ireland the advice relating to appropriate measures required will continue to be disseminated by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre and UCC will continue to monitor any recommendations on the HPSC website and directly from the HSE, and act on advice as it emerges.
You can find updates and resources on the University’s website
Note that this guidance is subject to change as the situation evolves.
The university is currently open, and there are no plans to close any buildings at present.
Q: What is UCC doing to raise awareness about COVID-19?
A: A management group has been monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation since the original outbreak in Wuhan. The digital signage on campus, screensavers on desktop PCs and Hard-copy physical posters in public and office spaces are being used to highlight the recommended infection control measures and other information over the coming days. All-Staff and All-Student emails will be distributed when there is new information or a significant change in the situation. The University websites will contain a safety notice linking to the www.ucc.ie/en/studenthealth/flu webpages and social media and other channels will be used. Further FAQs will appear on the www.ucc.ie/en/studenthealth/flu webpage over the coming days and you are advised to consult this if you have a query you are seeking some guidance on.
