Entry Requirements

School Leavers: Six subjects in the Leaving Certificate from: Irish, English, another language, Mathematics, a laboratory science (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics with Chemistry (joint) or Agricultural Science), and one other subject are recognized as meeting minimum entry requirements. A minimum of a HC3 grade is required in two subjects including a science subject and a language.

Mature Students: Mature students must be over the age of 23 years. Minimum entry requirements are a HC3 in a leaving Certificate science subject, or its equivalent, from the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics with Chemistry (joint) or Agricultural Science.  In cases where an applicant does not achieve these requirements at Leaving Certificate, but subsequently attended a Third Level course in the relevant subject, the applicant may be deemed to have satisfied minimum entry requirements. International Students: We welcome applications from international students. All applicants whose first language is no English are required to sit either an IELTS or TOEFL test. The College of Medicine and Health require and IELTS 6.5 – with no individual section lower than 6.5. For more information please see http://www.ucc.ie/en/international/

Fitness to Practice:As part of the programme, students are required to undertake placement and training that involve dealing directly with patients, clients or service users. Since it it of over-riding importance to protect members of the public from harm and to maintain the trust and confidence of the general public in the professions and the University, it is vital that students are deemed fit to practice while on placement.
